Biographical Information[edit]
Shigeru Ohta was the editor of Sports World in Japan starting in 1910. He became famous for his flowery writing style especially during his coverage of the Waseda-Keio rivalry. He was the first baseball commentator on Japanese radio. In 1938, he compiled the first Tokyo Big6 Baseball League yearbook.
Ohta was inducted into the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972.
