Biographical Information[edit]

Shigeki Abe had one at-bat for the Yakult Swallows in 1999, going hitless. Abe had been a fourth-round draft pick of the Yomiuri Giants in 1990 NPB draft out of high school. He spent six years in their minor league chain, then signed with the Swallows. He would be in the Swallows system for four years, getting his lone at-bat as a pinch-hitter for Hiroki Hongo. A catcher, he never took the field in Nippon Pro Baseball. He was Yakult's bullpen catcher from 2002 to 2012 then became a scorekeeper for them.
