Biographical Information[edit]

Sheyder García has pitched for the Nicaraguan national team.

He was 5-2 with 3 saves and a 3.47 ERA for Jinotega in 2019, striking out 73 and walking 36 in 49 1/3 IP. He was 4-2 with a save and a 2.47 ERA the next year. [1] He was on Nicaragua's announced roster for the 2020 World Baseball Classic Qualifier before that event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which was just beginning to effect baseball in the Americas at the time. [2]

In 2021, he was 3-3 with a 2.86 ERA for Jinotega, again fanning a lot (65 in 46 2/3) while cutting down the walks a bit (20). [3] He was with Nicaragua for the 2020 Americas Olympic Qualifier (held in 2021 despite the name; the 2020 Olympics and some qualifiers had been delayed a year due to the pandemic and retained their names). He saved Berman Espinoza's win over Puerto Rico, relieving Jorge Bucardo with one on, two outs and a 7-6 lead in the bottom of the 10th. He walked Nelson Molina then got former major leaguer Ozzie Martínez on a fly to end it. His other outing was also brief, relieving Osman Gutierrez in the bottom of the 8th with one on, one out and a 12-3 deficit versus the Dominican Republic. He walked Charlie Valerio then Jeison Guzmán singled to make it 13-3, ending the game due to the mercy rule. [4]
