Biographical Information[edit]

Sherard Clinkscales was 7-4 with a 2.34 ERA with a 58/87 BB/SO ratio in 81 IP (6.4 BB/9) for Purdue University in 1992. That June he was drafted as a supplemental first round pick (#31 overall) by the Kansas City Royals in the 1992 amateur draft. Clinkscales also played basketball for Gene Keady at Purdue in 1989-1990.

For the Eugene Emeralds in 1992, he was 2-3 with a 6.15 ERA and a 36/58 BB/SO ratio in 53 IP (6.1 BB/9). Wildness really hit Clinkscales in 1993 for the Rockford Royals. He was 5-3 with a 6.75 ERA and a 83/46 BB/SO ratio in only 61 IP. Back with Rockford in 1994, Clinkscales was 2-0 with a 7.82 ERA and a 15/9 BB/SO ratio in 13 IP, all in relief. He also pitched for the GCL Royals in '94, going 0-0 with a 4.05 ERA and a 18/18 BB/SO ratio in 13 IP, again all in relief.

Clinscales was a scout for the Atlanta Braves in 1997-1999, and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in 1999-2001. He returned to the Braves from 2001 to 2005, and scouted for the Kansas City Royals in 2006.

In 2007, Clinkscales became an assistant coach at the University of Notre Dame. Clinkscales resigned his position with Notre Dame on June 24, 2009 after three seasons with the program. Under his tutelage were future professionals David Phelps and Wade Korpi. He worked for the NCAA for two years, then joined the North Carolina State University staff as Associate Athletic Director in July 2011, then moved up to Senior Associate Athletic Director in January of 2012.

Sherard's father Lester Clinkscales was a minor league pitcher who reached AAA.
