Biographical Information[edit]
Sheldon McDonald has pitched in the minors.
McDonald pitched for Canada in the 2006 World Junior Championship. He was All-Colonial Athletic Association in 2008 at Northeastern, going 9-2 with a 2.86 ERA and over a strikeout per inning. He was second in the CAA in both wins and ERA. He transferred to British Columbia for his last two years of college. The Chicago Cubs, advised by scout Al Geddes, took him in the 33rd round of the 2011 amateur draft.
In his pro debut, McDonald pitched for the AZL Cubs (7 R, 2 ER, 9 K in 8 IP) and the Boise Hawks (6 R in 11 IP). The southpaw was excellent for the 2012 Peoria Chiefs at 1-3 with a 1.89 ERA and .98 WHIP. He then was picked for Team Canada's roster for the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers.
