Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Shayne Rea played in the Kansas City Royals system from 1990 to 1993. He was drafted by the club in the third round of the 1990 amateur draft.

He was 2-4 with a 5.28 ERA in nine games (six starts) for the Eugene Emeralds in 1990 and in 1991, he went 7-11 with a 5.13 ERA in 27 starts for the Appleton Foxes. Back with the Foxes in 1992, he went 9-3 with a 2.61 ERA in 38 games (two starts) and in 1993, he was 0-2 with a 4.31 ERA in 17 games (one start) between the GCL Royals and Wilmington Blue Rocks.

He committed suicide at 23 years of age.
