Biographical Information[edit]

Serniy Kovalenko was one of the youngest players on the Ukrainian national team in the 2001 European Championship; three players had 1981 birthyears and no one on the team was born in 1982 or later. He made three pitching appearances, with a 8.53 ERA and no decisions. He allowed ten hits and three walks in 6 1/3 IP while fanning four. He was third on the six-man staff in ERA behind Mykola Taran and Anatoliy Korolov.
