Sec Taylor Stadium
(also known as Pioneer Memorial Stadium, 1947 to 1959)
BUILT: 1947
DEMOLISHED: 1991
Built in 1947, Sec Taylor Stadium was located in Des Moines, IA and originally known as Pioneer Memorial Stadium. In 1959, the park was renamed Sec Taylor Stadium in honor of Des Moines Register sports editor Sec Taylor. It was home of the Iowa Oaks and Iowa Cubs through the 1991 season. The stadium was completely demolished and a new ballpark, Sec Taylor Stadium (II) took its place from 1992 through 2004, when it was renamed Principal Park and remains the home of the Cubs to this day.
