Biographical Information[edit]

Reliever Sean Doty played in the Cincinnati Reds system from 1989 to 1992, being taken by the club in the 19th round of the 1989 amateur draft, one pick ahead of pitcher John Doherty. He peaked at Single-A.

He had two seasons of particular note. Between two clubs in 1990, he was 4-2 with a 1.78 ERA in 27 appearances; in 60 2/3 innings, he allowed just 31 hits. In 1991, he was 4-2 with 20 saves and a 1.94 ERA in 47 games for the Charleston Wheelers; in 55 2/3 innings, he struck out 62 batters. Overall, he was 14-12 with 29 saves and a 3.36 ERA in 137 games. In 201 innings, he allowed 153 hits and 107 walks (1.294 WHIP), while striking out 193 batters.
