Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Sean Burke made his major league debut with the woeful Chicago White Sox towards the end of the 2024 season in which they set a new American League record by losing 121 games. He was the starting pitcher in 3 of the 4 games he pitched, the only exception being his debut game on September 10th when he tossed 3 innings of one-hit relief in a 5-0 loss to the Cleveland Guardians. He won two of those three starts, finishing at 2-0, 1.42. His ERA in 19 innings was the lowest on the staff, discounting position player Danny Mendick who tossed one scoreless inning in mop=up relief, and only five pitchers had more wins than his 2.

In 2025, in spite of his limited big league experience, he was chosen as the White Sox's Opening Day starter. He had fewer innings under his belt than any other pitcher receiving this honor in franchise history, dating back to 1901, and only topped in major league history by Fernando Valenzuela, who was an emergency last-minute starter for the 1981 Los Angeles Dodgers.
