The Scranton Coal Heavers played one year in the Eastern League, representing Scranton, PA in 1895. They were 44-72, good for sixth place but closer to eighth (last) than fifth. Managed by Billy Barnie, the outstanding performer was 2B Piggy Ward, who led the EL in hitting (.372), scored 93 runs and stole 26 bases. OF-SS Tom Bannon hit .348 and stole 24 in 47 games.
