Biographical Information[edit]

Scott Wright pitched in the minor leagues in 1984 and 1985. He was originally taken by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 28th round of the 1980 amateur draft, but opted not to sign. In 1984 Wright set the NCAA record with 22 saves in a season, which was broken by Jack Krawczyk in 1998. He did sign after being taken by the Phillies in the 14th round of the 1984 amateur draft, a few picks after slugger John Jaha. He was named a Baseball America All-American that year. He played for the Peninsula Pilots his first campaign, going 3-1 with a 3.62 ERA in 17 relief appearances. In 1985, he played for the Reading Phillies and Nashua Pirates, being traded from the Phillies to the Pittsburgh Pirates in early July. Wright went to camp in 1986, but was released at the end of spring.
