Biographical Information[edit]
Scott Hardesty, who is most famous because Roger Connor assaulted him, played 22 games in the majors with the New York Giants in 1899, filling in for shortstop George Davis during parts of August and September. He played for Manchester in 1904, apparently finishing up a minor league career that had started in 1895 or before.
Hardesty was a man who sometimes acted in an excessive manner. Prior to his pro career, he and another man were charged with assault and intent to kill a gambler. He was once suspended for insubordination, called a "rowdy" for his play on the field, and once tripped Connor during a game, which caused Connor to retaliate after the game. [1]
