Biographical Information

Scotty Burcham has played in the minors, as did his father Tim Burcham.

Scotty set his high school's single-season and career records for hits. He hit .231/.318/.288 as a college freshman but fielded .962 as a solid middle infielder. He batted .231/.268/.279 his sophomore season then improved his offense to .300/.351/.367 as a junior. He tied for 4th in the Western Athletic Conference with 71 hits. As a senior, he hit .329/.382/.465 with 6 triples and 46 runs in 60 games. He tied for the WAC lead in three-baggers and was 4th in steals (16) and hits (80). He made All-WAC as an infielder.

The Colorado Rockies took him in the 25th round of the 2015 amateur draft. He hit .235/.288/.324 as a backup middle infielder for the Boise Hawks that year, then .271/.335/.382 as a utility infielder for the 2016 Asheville Tourists. He was the starting shortstop for the Israeli national team in the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers and performed very well, going 5 for 11 with 3 runs. In the finale against Great Britain, he scored the first run of the game; in the 5th, he singled off Spencer Kreisberg and was aboard when Blake Gailen homered. Israel won a spot in the 2017 World Baseball Classic, their first World Baseball Classic. He tied Ryan Lavarnway and Zach Borenstein for the team lead in runs in the qualifiers, tied Lavarnway for the most hits, led the team in average, was second to Lavarnway in OBP and third in slugging behind Cody Decker and Lavarnway and ahead of three major league-experienced players (Nate Freiman, Ike Davis and Josh Satin).
