Scott Berry

Biographical Information[edit]

Scott Berry is a college coach.

A back injury ended Berry's playing career after his sophomore season. He immediately became a student assistant coach at Southwest Missouri State. From 1991-1996, he was an assistant coach at Meridian Community College under Corky Palmer. When Palmer left in 1997, Berry became head coach. He was 186-57 through 2000. He took his team to the NJCAA World Series in 1998 and 2000. He produced Cliff Lee, Brent Leach, Bob McCrory and Jason Smith.

In 2001, Berry again became an assistant under Palmer, this time at University of Southern Mississippi. His pitchers took seven All-American honors. In 2010, when Palmer retired, Scott again took over the head coaching reigns from his mentor. Berry announced his retirement in May 2023 effective at the end of the season. He was the all-tome winningest coach in school history.
