Biographical Information[edit]

Scott Bailey played baseball and hockey in college. He pitched for the Canadian national team in the 1978 Amateur World Series, tying Ray Paiement for the team lead with four games pitched. He allowed only seven hits and two runs (one earned) in 14 innings, but walked 17 (2 of them intentionally), more than the entire Japanese national team staff issued in 10 games. On the other hand, he led in Canada in ERA; Paiement was next at 1.93 (Gordy Johnson had a 0.00 ERA but was not a qualifier and Kerry Morris had a 0.00 ERA in only 1 1/3 IP). He was 6th in the event in ERA, between Mike Kinnunen and Lázaro Santana. He was back with Canada for the 1980 Amateur World Series.
