Biographical Information[edit]

"I told some of the Tigers, 'I watched you guys in the World Series two years ago. I was having some doubts that I could get people out up here, but after today I found out I can. Even the good guys, like Lance Parrish, I got them out." - Bailes, after recording his first big league victory on April 13, 1986.

In 1986, Scott Bailes became the only pitcher since 1901 to have exactly 10 wins, 10 losses, and 10 games started, finishing his rookie year with the Cleveland Indians 10-10 with a 4.95 ERA in 62 games. The victories and appearances would be his personal bests in a nine-season career that also included tenures with the California Angels and Texas Rangers.
