Scoreboard

A scoreboard has been a central feature of baseball stadiums for a long time. Originally, scoreboards were manually operated, but they are now computerized, although a few manual scoreboards remain, most notably at Fenway Park.

A bare-bones scoreboard lists the score, inning-by-inning, as well as the number of runs, hits and errors for each team. Other longstanding features include the batting order for each team as well as scores from other Major League Baseball games taking place that day.

Modern scoreboards present even more information. Typical features include:

1) Statistics for the present batter and pitcher, as well as pictures of those players. 2) Pitch speed. 2) Trivia and factoids. 3) Replay of close plays or important offensive, defensive or pitching moments.
