Biographical Information[edit]

Satoru Yoshioka has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Yoshioka was drafted by the Tokyo Orions in the 10th round of the 1967 NPB draft and debuted on August 13, 1969. Yoshioka spent the first six years of his career in the NPB Farm Leagues, only playing 66 games combined from 1969 to 1974. The Orions then traded him to the Taiheiyo Club Lions for Shojiro Kikukawa. He played 69 games as a second baseman in the first year with the Lions, and batted .219/.248/.343.

The Toyama native amazingly broke out in the 1976 season. He hit .309/.350/.427 with 13 triples, and won the Best Nine award as an second baseman. He led the league in batting average and triples. Yoshioka even set the NPB record for hitting the most triples in a game with 3 on June 20. However, his 1976 season looked like a fluke as his batting line declined to .227/.269/.315 in 1977 season. He never had a productive season again, batted .237/.269/.266 in 1978 season, then was traded to the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters for Hisataka Yukizawa in 1979 season. Yoshioka recorded a 2-for-23 with the Fighters from 1980 to 1981, then announced his retirement after the 1981 season.

Overall, Yoshioka had hit .247/.287/.337 in 13 seasons in NPB.
