- Born October 7, 1945 in Nettuno, Lazio Italy
Sante De Francheschi became an umpire in 1964 at age 18. He would work the 1973 Intercontinental Cup, 1979 European Championship, 1982 Amateur World Series, 1987 European Championship, 1989 European Championship, 1991 European Championship, 1992 Olympics, 1998 Baseball World Cup and 2009 Baseball World Cup. De Francheschi was co-author of the first book on the history of baseball in Italy - “Il baseball, la sua storia e Nettuno." In 2009, he was voted into the Italian Baseball Hall of Fame.
