Biographical Information[edit]

Sang-soo No was the Korea Baseball Organization's first strikeout leader.

When the KBO was formed in 1982, No pitched for the Lotte Giants. He worked over half their games that first year, going 14-19 with a 2.94 ERA. He was first in the league in strikeouts (141, 33 ahead of MVP Chul-soon Park), innings (232 1/3) and losses (6 more than anyone else). He was also 5th in wins, second in complete games (12), 4th in shutouts (2), third in games pitched (44) and 8th in ERA.

No was 8-11 with a 4.14 ERA in 1983 and finished third in the league with 42 appearances. After not playing for two years (presumably due to military service), he returned to Lotte in 1986 and had a 3-5, 5.66 record. He improved to 4-2, 4.23 in 1987 then was 4-5 with a 4.73 ERA in 1988. In 1989, he struggled, going 1-3 with a 7.30 ERA and 65 hits in 37 IP. A year later, he was 1-1 with a 4.03 ERA. In his final season, 1991, the sidearmer gave up 5 hits and 5 runs in 3 innings.

Overall, No was 35-46 with a 4.14 ERA in 176 games in the KBO.
