Biographical Information[edit]
Samuel Gonzalez played in the Pittsburgh Pirates minor league system from 2009-2013. He spent his first two years in the Dominican Summer League before moving to the states. The highest level Gonzalez reached was the New York-Penn League which was a short-season league. He was a catcher and first baseman.
After completing his playing career, Gonzalez stayed with the Pirates to begin his coaching career. He spent the first four years as a player/coach.

Gonzalez became a full-time coach in 2018 and has worked in the Dominican Summer League since then. He coached the DSL Pirates 2 in 2018-2019 and was scheduled to return there in 2020 before COVID-19 shut down minor league teams. Gonzalez coached the DSL Pirates Black in 2021 and the DSL Pirates Gold in 2022-2023.
