Biographical Information

Pitcher Sam Welborn was drafted in the 1st round of the 1975 amateur draft by the Philadelphia Phillies. After posting ERAs in the 6.00 range most of his career and a 7.09 ERA in AA in 1979, he was drafted by Spokane in the Seattle Mariners organization. He reached AAA in 1981, but never made the majors.
