Sam Jew is from Australia. He came to Germany to pitch in the 2006 Bundesliga for the Saarlouis Hornets and starred, going 8-2 with a 2.26 ERA. He was third in the southern league in ERA behind Manuel Möller and Markus Winkler, tied for third in wins and was 5th in WHIP (1.16). In 2007, Jew fell to 1-2, 4.34 for Saarlouis. He pitched for Great Britain in the 2007 European Championship, going 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA and 14 hits allowed in 7 1/3 IP, taking the loss against Italy. Britain still won its second Silver Medal ever in a European Championship.
In 2008, Jew pitched for Palomar College, going 3-2 with a 3.74 ERA. He also spent time with the Hornets again, going 2-2 with a save and a 2.48 ERA. He improved in 2009, with a 10-2, 2.07 record for Palomar. He tied for 4th place on the school's all-time leaderboard for wins in a year and was 14th in ERA. He was first-team All-Pacific Coast Conference.
Jew is transferring to Arkansas State University for 2010.
