Biographical Information

Sam Edmonston pitched one game in the majors with the Washington Senators in 1907.

Sam was born in Washington, DC in 1883. The only other major leaguer born there the same year was Red Waller.

Edmonston was at Georgetown University between 1902 and 1907, and his time there overlapped with that of Art Devlin. A different source says he was on the football team in 1901-1903.

On June 24, 1907, Sam came to the majors with the Senators. He was four years older than teammate Walter Johnson. He has often been confused with Bob Edmondson, who pitched for the Seantors in 1906.

From 1908 to 1910, Edmonston pitched in the minors for four different teams.

The Washington Herald of July 18, 1911 shows him as part of the Cornell Company club in the Capital City League. The Herald issue of July 2, 1912 refers to him pitching for the amateur Cornell club against the Brentwood club.

He lived to be 95 years old.
