Nogami was the starter of the 2017 PLCS Stage 1 Game 3, but he allowed 2 runs and 3 walks in 3 2/3 innings and got the loss. The Rakuten Golden Eagles eliminated the Lions in 3 games.

Nogami then announced that he would become a free agent, and he signed a 3-year, 450 million yen contract with the Yomiuri Giants. He was 4-4 with a 4.79 ERA in 2018, and he was removed from the rotation in July. Nogami pitched 9 games with a 1.65 ERA in 2021, but he injured his shoulder severely on May 18 and he decided to retire. He was a coach for the minor league team of the Giants in 2024.
