Biographical Information[edit]

Ryokan Kobayashi has been a pro pitcher since 1998.

Kobayashi was drafted by the Chiba Lotte Marines in the 6th round of the 1997 draft. He spent five years in their minor league system but never made it to Nippon Pro Baseball. He then moved to the Chunichi Dragons club and spent three more years in ni-gun. In 2006, he signed with the Calgary Vipers and went 0-2 with a 5.32 ERA in 40 outings.

Kobayashi moved to the Shikoku Island League in 2007 and was 1-2. For 2008, he signed with the Brother Elephants of Taiwan and dominated. He went 10-6 with a 2.66 ERA and 110 strikeouts. He finished 5th in the league in wins, 3rd in ERA behind Yu-Cheng Liao and Mike Johnson and second to Fu-Te Ni in strikeouts.
