Biographical Information

Pitcher Ryan Weber began playing in the Atlanta Braves minor league system in 2009.

He was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 12th round of the 2008 amateur draft, but opted not to sign. He did sign after being taken in the 22nd round of the 2009 amateur draft by Atlanta.

He began his professional career with a 1.74 ERA in 7 appearances for the GCL Braves in 2009, striking out 13 batters in 10 1/3 innings. After going 5-7 with a 4.17 ERA in 2010, he rebounded in 2011 and went 2-0 with a 2.72 ERA in 15 games (6 starts) between the Rome Braves and Lynchburg Hillcats. His ERA has been over 4.00 from 2012 to 2014, but he did better in 2015, going 6-5, 2.35 in 38 games as a swingman between the Mississippi Braves and Gwinnett Braves. That earned him a call-up to the majors in September, going 0-3, 4.76 in 5 starts. In 2016, he went 2-3, 2.76 in 26 games for Gwinnett, including 5 starts, but with Atlanta, he was 1-1, 5.45 in 16 games, 2 of them starts.

Weber was placed on waivers after the 2016 season and was claimed by the Seattle Mariners. He started the 2017 season with the AAA Tacoma Rainiers, going 2-0, 0.85 in his first 6 games. He was called up to Seattle to make a start against the Toronto Blue Jays on May 13th, but he had to leave in the 4th inning with shoulder tightness.
