Ryan Powers

Biographical Information[edit]

Ryan Powers was a star baseball and basketball player at Calamus-Wheatland High School and led both teams to their respective state tournaments. He played college baseball at Wartburg College from 2011-2014 where he was a starter all four years. Powers was a two-time All-Conference selection, two-time All-Region selection, and was named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-America team in 2013.

After graduation, Powers parlayed his baseball knowledge into video oriented jobs with professional baseball organizations. He began as a video intern for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in 2015. In 2016-2017 he worked as a video coordinator for the Texas Rangers organization. Powers moved on the Miami Marlins in 2018 and served as video assistant with the Jupiter Hammerheads. His responsibilities in 2019 appear to have broadened as he worked as an analyst in player development. Powers jumped to the Kansas City Royals organization in 2020, just in time for the COVID-19 shutdown of the minor league season. He was a video assistant for the Royals in both 2020 and 2021. He spent the latter season with the Quad Cities River Bandits.

Powers assumed an on-field role for the first time in 2022 when he served as an assistant hitting coach for the Omaha Storm Chasers. He was then hitting coach for the Quad Cities River Bandits in 2023-2024.
