Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Ryan Pope was the New York Yankees 3rd round pick of the 2007 amateur draft. He was the last of 13 right-handed pitchers taken that round (out of 30 selections overall), and was in a group that saw nine RHPs taken in a span of 11 selections. He played until 2013 and, though he reached Triple A twice (2011 & 2013), he never made the majors.

His career was bookended by two good, though limited, seasons. In 2007, he went 3-0 with a 2.49 ERA in 10 starts for the Low-A Staten Island Yankees; in 2013, he was 1-0, 2.92 in 5 games (1 starts) for the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. In between, he never had a regular season ERA below 4.20 or a winning percentage above .500. He was a Mid-Season All-Star in 2008.

Overall, Pope was 25-34 with a 4.34 ERA in 195 games (68 starts). In 512 innings, he allowed 127 walks and had 431 strikeouts.
