Biographical Information[edit]
Ruth Richard played in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League from 1947 to 1954. With the Grand Rapids Chicks as a rookie, she played right field and appeared in 3 games as a pitcher. In 1948, she was traded to the Rockford Peaches and moved behind the plate. In 1950, she hit .251 for the Peaches but broke her ankle in the season's final game and missed the playoffs. In her final season, she hit 7 home runs. Overall, she hit .241 in 725 and was named the catcher on the league's All-Star team six times.
