Biographical Information[edit]
Ruth Lessing played five seasons All American Girls Professional Baseball League, first with the Minneapolis Millerettes and then with the Grand Rapids Chicks. She set a league record when she caught 125 games for the Chicks in 1948. Known for her fiery demeanor, she was once fined $100 for punching an umpire during a game. After an elbow injury ended her baseball career in 1949, she worked for the federal government in Texas.
