Biographical Information[edit]
Russ Miller, in a performance that reminds one of the later Terry Felton, went 0-12 with the 1928 Phillies, a team which lost 109 games. Like Felton, he wasn't as bad as he seemed - his ERA was better than the team average.
Miller was born in 1900 in Ohio and attended Ohio State University from 1923-25. Don Hurst, later a Phillies teammate, was also at Ohio State in 1924.
Russ was the brother of Walter "Jake" Miller, who played nine seasons in the bigs.
Russ pitched for Syracuse from 1925-27, going 15-10 in 1927. He came up to the Phillies for two games in 1927, going 1-1.
From 1929-32 he pitched in the minors.
