Ruppert Stadium
Located in Newark, New Jersey, Ruppert Stadium was home to the Newark Bears of the International League from 1926 to 1949 and the Newark Eagles of the Negro National League from 1936 to 1948. The ballpark seated 19,000 and was located next to a garbage dump. It was demolished in 1967.
On Sunday, July 17, 1904 while known as Wiedenmeyer's Park, the Ruppert Stadium hosted an American League game in which the Detroit Tigers visited the New York Highlanders. The game was played away from the Highlanders' usual Hilltop Park to avoid New York City's blue laws.
