Biographical Information[edit]

Rudy Leopold had good luck and bad luck. He had good luck in his major league debut, pitching 2 1/3 innings without giving up a hit or walk to the 1928 St. Louis Browns. He had bad luck in his second appearance, against the 1928 Philadelphia Athletics, giving up four hits without getting an out. The Athletics were a top team that had five future Hall of Famers in the lineup that day.

Rudy is the only major leaguer born in Louisiana in 1905, and the only one, through 2019, born in Grand Cane, LA, a small town in northwestern Louisiana.
