Biographical Information[edit]

Ruben Rosario pitched in the St. Louis Cardinals system from 1993 to 1998. He spent his first three seasons in the Dominican Summer League, then played for the Johnson City Cardinals in 1996. That year, he went 7-3 with a 3.28 ERA in 13 starts; he had 72 strikeouts in 71 1/3 innings. With the New Jersey Cardinals in 1997, Rosario went 5-5 with a 4.28 ERA in 14 starts, averaging over 8 strikeouts per 9 innings. In 1998, he went 5-10 with a 5.66 ERA in 28 games (10 starts) between New Jersey and the Peoria Chiefs. In 70 innings, he had 87 Ks.

Overall, Rosario went 17-18 with a 4.40 ERA in 55 games (37 starts) stateside. In 215 innings, he allowed 171 hits and 135 walks (1.423 WHIP, while striking out 225 batters. Though he never had an at-bat stateside, he did steal a base in 1998.
