Biographical Information[edit]
Rube Ehrhardt was one of the few major league pitchers to hurl a shutout in the final game of his career. On October 5, 1929 while playing for the Cincinnati Reds, he pitched a 7-hit shutout against the Chicago Cubs. Ehrhardt was released the next spring by Cincinnati and never pitched another professional game.
After his baseball career, Ehrhardt worked in a Chicago area steel mill for 20 years.
