Biographical Information[edit]

Ronny Agustín has pitched in the minors and for the Dominican national team.

He was signed by Pittsburgh Pirates scouts Rene Gayo and Juan Mercado in July 2014. [1] He was 1-5 with a 4.50 ERA for the 2015 DSL Pirates and 2-1, 3.77 with a save for them in 2016, striking out 39 in 28 2/3 IP. Coming stateside in 2017, he went 3-0 with a save and a 3.06 ERA for the West Virginia Power, whiffing 52 in 35 1/3 IP. Lefties only slugged .122 against him. [2]

In 2018, he was 1-5 with 5 saves and a 3.33 ERA for the Bradenton Marauders but battled control problems with 35 walks in 46 innings. He pitched 1 1/3 shutout innings for the Leones del Escogido that winter. He did not appear in the Pirates chain in 2019. He did play for the Dominican Republic in the 2019 Pan American Games. He got into one game, relieving Ramón Morla with a 1-1 tie and one out against Cuba in the 7th inning of the 5th/6th place game. He retired César Prieto and Yoelquis Guibert to end the inning. In the 8th, Roel Santos reached on an error and Edgar García replaced Agustín. [3]
