Biographical Information[edit]
Ronnie Walden was taken in the first round of the 1990 Amateur Draft, ninth overall, by the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was the third pitcher taken, after Alex Fernandez and Kurt Miller, and the first southpaw. He pitched in four games for the Rookie League Great Falls Dodgers that season, all starts, compiling a 3-0 record with a 0.42 ERA. An injury shut him down for the year and ended his career for all intents and purposes. Baseball America ranked him as the #2 prospect in the Pioneer League, between teammates Raul Mondesi and Pedro Martinez. He only pitched one more season professionally, in 1993 with the Vero Beach Dodgers in advanced A ball. That season, he went 1-1 with a 4.00 ERA in three starts.
