Biographical Information[edit]

Rong-Hua Liu has played, coached and managed in the CPBL. He is the father of Chia-Kai Liu.

Liu debuted in 1993 with the Jungo Bears, with a 5.06 ERA in 9 games. He pitched four games in both 1994 (5.14) and 1995 (back to 5.06) and ended his career with a 5.09 ERA, no decisions and no saves. From 1996-2004, he coached for the Sinon Bulls. Late in 2004, he replaced Wei-Cheng Chen as Sinon's manager and went 12-9 the rest of the way. He won the 2004 Taiwan Series in seven games over the Uni-President Lions for Sinon's first title. He had a 53-42-6 record in 2005 then Sinon swept the Macoto Cobras in the 2005 Taiwan Series. When Liu fell to 48-49-3 in 2006, he was axed as skipper. He coached high school baseball in 2007-2008, returning to Sinon as interim manager for 17 games (7-10) the latter year. After coaching in the minors for the Bulls, he returned as manager again in 2011, replacing Sheng-Ming Hsu. Taking over the team with the best record from 2010, he was just 45-72-3, worst in the league. After a 27-55-4 start in 2012, he was canned in favor of Wen-Chung Chang. He then coached for Taiwan in the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers.
