Biographical Information[edit]
Ronald Rivera has played for the Nicaraguan national team.
He debuted in 2014, hitting .273/.343/.387 in 58 games for Chinandega and .265/.265/.294 in 14 contests for San Fernando. [1] He was 0 for 3 in the 2014 U-21 Baseball World Cup. [2] In 2015, he was at .248/.314/.412 for Chinandega and .293/.376/.517 in 2016. [3] In the 2016 U-23 Baseball World Cup, he excelled at .455/.486/.667 with nine runs in nine games, including a homer off Nick Veale. He handled 68 chances error-free behind the dish. He tied for 4th in runs. Carlos Mendivil beat him out for All-Star catcher honors. [4]
Rivera fell to .247/.347/.426 for Chinandega in '17 then split the next year between Chinandega (.290/.423/.419 in 20 G) and León (.265/.362/.367 in 17 G). [5] Backing up Janior Montes in the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games, he was 0 for 3 for Nicaragua. [6] In 2019, he hit .292/.427/.505 with 44 runs in 65 games for Chinandega, followed by seasons of .178/.296/.280 and .274/.387/.497 (setting new career highs with 22 doubles and 53 RBI). [7]
