Biographical Information[edit]
Ron Tostenson played in the minors and for Team Canada and then became a scout.
Tostenson grew up in British Columbia, where his father Hank was a long-time player and coach. was a shortstop for Canada in the 1980 Amateur World Series. [1] He signed with the Montréal Expos after college. He hit .298/.358/.390 for the 1983 Calgary Expos with 39 runs and 9 steals in 11 tries over 61 games, and had 9 outfield assists. He was one assist behind Sly Humphrey for the Pioneer League lead. [2]
In 1984, he played for the Gastonia Expos (.171/.302/.200 in 23 G) and Jamestown Expos (.262/.351/.345 in 72 G). He stole 25 bases in 31 tries, good for 4th in the Expos chain (between Casey Candaele and Johnny Paredes). His 24 swipes for Jamestown tied Mike Garner for 5th in the New York-Penn League. He was later a scout for the Toronto Blue Jays and Chicago Cubs. [3]
