Biographical Information[edit]

Román Colón signed with scout Rene Francisco and the Atlanta Braves in 1995. He pitched 124 times for three teams in parts of six seasons in the majors, with an 8-10, 5.19 record and a save in 187 1/3 innings. In June 2007, while with the Toledo Mud Hens, he was charged with felonious assault after it was alleged he hit his teammate, Jason Karnuth, breaking several bones in his face, when Karnuth was trying to break up a fight between Colón and another player. Colón also pitched briefly in the KBO (with the KIA Tigers) in 2010 and the CPBL (with the CTBC Brothers) in 2014. After his release in spring training 2015, Colón became a coach with the AZL Royals from 2015-2016.
