Roland T. Johnson

Biographical Information[edit]

Roland Johnson has scouted for more than 40 years, including more than 30 with the New York Mets. He served as director of scouting for the Mets from 1986 to 1992, depending on the source. He initially scouted for the St. Louis Cardinals from 1973 to 1982; with Tim Thompson, he signed pitcher Ricky Horton. He had previously worked on The Baseball Encyclopedia (1969).

He won the A.B. "Turk" Karam Award in 1998. He was elected to the Professional Scouts Hall of Fame in 2009.
