Biographical information[edit]
Roger Smoot is the son of Homer Smoot. He played professionally for one season, 1927, for the Danville Veterans of the Illinois-Indiana-Iowa League and the Marshalltown Ansons of the Mississippi Valley League. He hit .234 in 64 at-bats (17 games) with the Veterans and .394 in 137 at-bats (36 games) with the Ansons. Combined, he hit .343 in 201 at-bats.
He was inducted into the Washington College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1998. His son, Roger Smoot, Jr., played baseball and soccer at Washington College and was elected to the school Hall of Fame in 2016.
