Roger Coryell

Biographical Information[edit]
Roger Coryell pitched at Eastern Michigan University. He signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1970 but a shoulder injury kept him from playing professionally. He returned to EMU as assistant coach from 1972-1987 then became head coach when Ron Oestrike retired. He was 543-553-2 as head coach from 1988-2007, winning Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year in 2002 and 2007. He coached Brian Bixler in college. In 2007, Coryell ran into trouble, reportedly for sending an inappropriate email, and was suspended. He then retired from coaching and was hired as a Texas Rangers scout for Michigan and Ohio. He signed Phil Klein.
