Roel de Groot

Biographical Information[edit]

Roel de Groot managed the Amstel Tijgers for almost all of their existence (1977-1988) before they merged with HCAW. Amstel won the Hoofdklasse titles in 1979, 1980 and 1986 and boasted numerous Dutch national team players, including Charles Urbanus Jr., Jim Sieval and Paul Smit. He was a volunteer who helped with the 2003 European Championship and 2005 Baseball World Cup. His grandson Mitchel Koot played in the Hoofdklasse.
