Biographical Information[edit]
Rocky Roe was a major league umpire from 1979 to 2001. He was first brought up to the American League after the 1979 umpires' strike.
He worked the 1990 World Series, 1994 All-Star Game and 1999 World Series most notably, in addition to four Division Series and three League Championship Series. In college, he had been on the winning team in the 1970 NAIA World Series. He started umpiring in the Florida State League in 1977 and 1978, moved up to the Eastern League early in the 1978 season, then was promoted to the American Association in 1979. He split his time between the American Association and the American League in 1980 and 1981 before being added to the permanent AL staff at the start of the 1982 season.
