Biographical Information[edit]
Roberto Ortíz first became an umpire in the 2010 New York-Penn League, the worked in the 2011 South Atlantic League, the 2012 Florida State League, the 2012-2013 Eastern League, and the Pacific Coast League starting in 2014. He also officiated in the 2015 Arizona Fall League. He worked the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, after having made his major league umpiring debut during the 2016 season.
Before the 2022 season, he was promoted to the full-time major league umpiring staff, become the first native of Puerto Rico to achieve that status. By then, he had already accumulated 411 games of major league experience. He then worked the 2023 World Baseball Classic.
