Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Robert Tyler was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in Competitive Balance Round A of the 2016 amateur draft, with the 38th overall pick, out of the University of Georgia. he was the Rockies' second selection that year, following P Riley Pint with the #4 pick.

He made his professional debut in 2016 with the Boise Hawks of the Northwest League, making 5 starts and going 0-2, 6.43 while pitching just 7 innings. He then missed all of 2017 after being diagnosed with shoulder fatigue. He was a full-time reliever in 2018, pitching 34 times for the Asheville Tourists of the South Atlantic League and 12 for the Lancaster JetHawks of the California League. Combined, he went 4-3, 5.10, with 8 saves. His ERA was brought down by giving up 10 earned runs in just 9 1/3 innings for Lancaster. He did post a solid K/W ratio, however, as he struck out 57 while walking just 12 batters in 47 2/3 innings.
